This Chinese scroll painting features an old man riding an Ox, with a young boy following behind on foot. In Chinese folk lore and tradition, the Ox acts as an image of connection, as well as strength and power.
The art work is of a subtle nature, consisting of pastel-like colours, which bring most of the focus to the elegantly written Chinese calligraphy on the top right.

An explanation of how the paintings are mounted
The majority of our paintings, unless stated, are mounted onto an elaborate scroll. Each scroll is bascally a long length of thick paper, with a thin wooden dowell at the top and a heavier wooden tube at the bottom.
This image illustrates how our art work is delivered. The image shows firstly how the height/widths given on the sites represent the full height/width of the scroll (and not just the painted part). This is to help you better judge use of space!
